TMRW Sports Announces Key Staff

TMRW Sports, dedicated to building progressive approaches to sports, media and entertainment, has announced the first wave of key staff positions that have helped shape the company’s tech-enabled ventures. The announcement was made by Mike McCurry, Founder and CEO of TMRW Sports (Pronounced “Tomorrow Sports”). McCarley and co-founders Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy recently announced the founding of TMRW Sports and his TGL, the company’s first project after nearly two years of development.

“Working with this talented group of executives over the past few years has positioned TMRW Sports as an innovative company creating a new approach to entertainment that fuses sport and technology. A roster of world-class partners, investors and additional team members in the coming months as we scale our operations towards the launch of TGL, our first venture in partnership with the PGA TOUR. Here are the first staff announcements for TMRW Sports:

Matthew Levine, Senior Vice President of Business Operations – Matthew Levine has over 20 years of experience as a technology founder and executive with a track record of building and leading multi-billion dollar companies across a variety of industries. For the past 18 months, he has headed all administrative functions at his TMRW Sports. This includes overseeing key opportunity modeling, finance and accounting, human resources, corporate development, and project management. Levine was a trusted advisor to McCarley throughout the creation of TMRW Sports.

Prior to joining TMRW Sports, he served as Global Chief Operating Officer for People 2.0 and WorkforceLogiq. Both of these are technology-enabled services companies in the human capital sector. At both companies, Levine was a key executive focused on business scaling, M&A and global expansion, where he was a key leader in the recapitalization process for TPG Growth and The Carlyle Group, respectively. Through his consulting practice, CJ Squared, Levine led the organization through capital raising, new product launches, corporate structure, DEI initiatives, and strategic planning.

Tom Veit, Senior Vice President, Venues and Events – Tom Veit is a 30-year veteran in sports and live entertainment with deep experience in creating, developing and managing sports entertainment venues. Veit has vast knowledge of the sales, marketing and operations of large scale live entertainment productions and for a year and a half he has been a consultant to TMRW Sports providing venues and events insight into the development of his productions. .

Veit has a long and storied career in sports and entertainment, including WWE’s Head of Global Events, responsible for 300 live events in 22 countries, and WrestleMania XVII and XVIII, which set well over $100 records. I have built. Millions of ticket revenue per year. Veit’s experience also includes founder of MLS’s Philadelphia Union and its stadium, his PPL Park (now Subaru Park), Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of the United Soccer League . Most recently, he served as president of S2 Sports and Entertainment Solutions.

Christopher Marvin, General Counsel – Christopher Murvin joins TMRW Sports as General Counsel following an illustrious career with The Golf Channel. Marvin began his journey on the Golf Channel as part of the founding team with Arnold Palmer and Joe Gibbs, and until 2000 he served as General Counsel. In 2006, he finally served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Operations. In that capacity, Marvin was responsible for negotiating television and new media rights agreements with various golf organization partners including the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, USGA, PGA of America, Augusta National and DP World Tour. Marvin was also responsible for protecting Golf Channel’s trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual property and for overseeing the licensing of the network and the use of intellectual property from third parties.

While at The Golf Channel, Marvin and McCurry worked closely together for over a decade as part of the NBC Sports Group during the organization’s transformation and rapid growth. Over the past year, Marvin has provided legal guidance and advice to McQuarrie for the launch of TMRW Sports last month, in addition to working with outside attorney Proskauer on the formation of TGL.

Joey Brander, Vice President of Corporate Development – Joey Brander is a venture capitalist, esports industry expert, and advisor to startups and funds across private and public markets with a focus on gaming, esports, and web3.

In this role at TMRW Sports, Brander led corporate initiative and strategy, new venture analysis, innovation, and investor relations. For the past two years, Brander has advised McCarley on TMRW Sports’ industry analysis, web3 approach, funding process, and long-term strategy.

Brander began his sports and media career early in life as a children’s sports reporter for Disney Channel, and by the age of 18, he was also working for affiliates of ESPN and CBS. An investor and thought leader at the intersection of sports, media and gaming, his Brander co-founded First Serve Partners in 2018. With this venture his capital he has invested in over 30 start-ups in the gaming, media, web3 and consumer sectors. In addition, Brander is part of an ownership group of esports franchises in each of his three global leagues, most notably. League of Legends, Call of Duty, Overwatch.

Katie Fitzpatrick, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer – Katie Fitzpatrick is a veteran Chief Financial Officer with more than 15 years of experience in small, medium and large enterprise positions. Katie has been working with TMRW Sports for the past three months through her deal with CFO Strategic Partners, a Florida-based company that has specialized in CFO outsourcing for over 20 years. She is responsible for the accounting and finance function, preparation and analysis of financial statements, and oversight of strategic planning and budgeting.

Prior to joining TMRW Sports, he began his private accounting career as an administrator for a $500 million bank, responsible for financial and regulatory reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and asset/liability management. During her tenure, she also managed two of her strategic mergers and acquisitions, doubling the size of the bank to over her $1 billion. After the bank was acquired, Katie was the Chief Financial Officer of a private entrepreneurial group, leading an accounting team managing 25 businesses. Most of these businesses were start-ups in high-growth stages.

Other roles include CFO of commercial development companies, managing over $200 million in financing, contracting and construction budgets for projects such as Wawa, Publix, Outback, Chipotle, Aldi and Portillo’s.

Joanne Chiang, Operations Director – Joanne Chiang brings to TMRW Sports a strong foundation in television pre- and post-production, studio shows, domestic and international logistics, and budget control, and is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese.

Joanne has enjoyed a 20-year career with NBCUniversal and has won seven Emmy Awards. During his time at NBCUniversal, Chiang managed multi-million dollar budgets and worked with teams of 3-3,000 people. Chen previously held production management positions for Golf Her Channel, NBC Olympics, and NBC Sports Group. In addition, Chen has worked on many high-profile events, including eight Olympic Games. sunday night football; american football nighttwo Super Bowls; National Science Foundation Partnership (Science in the NHL; Science in the NFL); and five feature-length Golf Channel documentaries.

David Schaefer, Senior Vice President, Communications – With more than 20 years of experience at global media companies NBC Sports Group and Discovery Communications, David Schaefer serves as Senior Vice President of Communications for TMRW Sports, leading global communications. Over the past year, Schaefer has been a trusted advisor on strategic communications to TMRW Sports and to McCarley on the launch of TGL.

Schaefer also heads the Schaefer Solutions Group, an enterprise storytelling consultancy, working with a roster of growth stage companies in the sports, media and technology industries. Previously, as Vice President of Communications for NBC Sports Golf, he led communications for the global portfolio of businesses. This includes the Golf Channel and his digital lifestyle businesses such as GolfNow, GolfPass and Golf Business Solutions.
