With the new month (and holiday weekend) in the background, the SI All-American team recruitment rankings will be updated to take into account more data points compared to the August rankings.
With the high school football season well underway in most states, not only has the latest assessment of potential commitments to various programs been made possible, but preseason SI99 rankings have been released for the 2023 class. and created another weighted data point within the subjective measurement approach of the SI. The following top 25 have been built together while addressing SI99 members, premium position prospects (quarterback, offensive tackle, pass rusher, cornerback), general quality at the top of their class, and team needs. It focuses on positional units that are

Alabama held back a push from Texas thanks to a productive August that flipped Ohio tight end Ty Lockwood and added prospects for a high-ceilinged internal defensive line in Hunter Osborne and Edric Hill. The top class races won’t be decided anytime soon considering the number of high level recruits in the fall and winter.
2. Texas (4)

Not only has Texas added two new members to build a strong class in the past few weeks, but UT was the only program nationwide to add multiple SI99 recruits in August. One was all-around defender Delion Garrett in the state, a top 50 recruit overall, and his other was the top-ranked running back in Cedric Baxter’s land. Six of his SI99 recruits in Texas now rank in the top 50 nationally.
3. Notre Dame (3)
Verbal Promise: twenty three
SI99 recruits: 7
The Irish suffered the biggest withdrawal of their entire hiring cycle, losing No. 1 edge Keon Keeley, but have since recovered in volume and variance. His new SI99 recruit is on board linebacker Jaiden Ausberry and is the most impressive of his four new additions in August. It includes Armel Mukkam’s high upside pass rusher and Dylan Edwards’ speedy running back. Ireland are looking for more pass-catching talent in a class where he will be one of the biggest in the country.
4. Ohio (2)

OSU’s quiet August month brought a push considering Lockwood’s Alabama Swipe and the addition of Athletic Instate linebacker Abel Reese. Big safety Jayden Bonce was then on board to complete one of the most dedicated secondary groups in the country. But the Buckeyes just hosted one of the best recruit groups on campus the sport may have ever seen in Saturday night’s showdown with Notre Dame, so more commitments are coming soon. The Bulldogs, like Alabama and other teams near the top, are playing long games with some top targets left. Added SI99 recruits to key positions needed in Monroe Freeling. With what the Bulldogs look like on the field, expect commitment flip conversations to pick up as Kirby Smart and company defend their titles.
6.LSU (14)

SI99 recruits: Four
LSU surged into the top 10 as they had a strong late summer push, especially with recruits from Louisiana. On September 1, Zalanthhard tackled his talent and his SI99 wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr. – all from Louisiana. Nine of him in the state are now in Brian Kelly’s program.
7. Clemson (6)
Verbal Promise: 20
SI99 recruits: Four
The Tigers are looking to fill the 2023 class, but have added another defensive back in Shelton Lewis. In August, SI99’s two-way standout, Ronan Hannafin, took a bigger, more headline win. Clemson won top programs like Alabama and Notre Dame.
8. Oklahoma (7)
Verbal Promise: twenty two
SI99 recruits: 3
The Sooners are leading the offseason on the trails, adding SI99 pass rusher Colton Vacek and more. Austin West Lake Edge is his one of the fastest risers in the 2023 class. OU is also a versatile Macari who can line up in the corner or safety of the Big 12 (or SEC). Joining him as one of the fastest prospects in the country in any other month would be the first recruiting win.
9. Miami (8)
Verbal Promise: 17
SI99 recruits: 6
Keynes missed some big goals coming off the board at the end of the offseason, but he still holds one of the best classes in the country, with the best positional holes along the quarterback and offensive lines. The latter has a new name alongside interior blocker Connor Lou, who committed in August and could be Coral Gables’ future centerpiece.
10. Tennessee (9)
Verbal Promise: twenty one
SI99 recruits: Five
Volunteers somehow quietly have a Top 10 class littered with defensive elites, including August pickups and SI99 cornerback Jordan Matthews. Fellow cornerback addition Ricky Gibson could have made an even more frantic late recruitment, highlighting the level Josh Hupel’s herd was battling on the trail. If you can close out an aggressive line hole, it won’t be easy to leave it out of the top 10 range in the whole process.
11. Florida (13)
Verbal Promise: 20
SI99 recruits: Four
Four new additions for the August window included a head turner compared to the opponent UF won on the trail. Alabama defensive lineman Kelby Collins is the most obvious example of Billy Napier’s staff stepping it up beyond the Sunshine State’s footsteps. In-state Kamran James and Will Norman committed within a day of each other.
12.USC (12)
Verbal Promise: 17
SI99 recruits: Four
None of USC’s elite recruits are talent in the trenches, but they’re elite class elsewhere. Defensive lineman Braylan Shelby and second most promising Maliki Crawford were new additions to the needed positions, while pass Jacobylane, who was added as his catcher, was the most eye-catching of the new commitments. Collected. The 6’4-inch-wide receiver had the best offseason run of any player at this position, earning Elite 11 position honors to top it all off.
13. Oregon (20)

After a big hunt in August and early September, the ducks make a big leap forward with the addition of six new recruits. With what feels timely compared to how the first game under Dan Lanning played out on Saturday, it’s very likely that it all will end up on defense in the end.

The biggest move that made up this month’s rankings belongs to South Carolina, who closed out both trench units with banner-recruiting victories over the past few weeks. SI99 defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod’s verbal commitments are spot on, but so are pass rusher Desmond Umeozulu and inside-out his type Zavion Hardy. On the offense, Olwat Singh tackles his Bavaradeh, known as Big Victory in the Trench.
15. Pennsylvania State University (10)
Verbal Promise: 19
SI99 recruits: 2
The Nittany Lions’ class looks the same from a numbers standpoint, but in reality has taken a beating with another decommitment from blue-chip pass rusher Tomarion Parker. While wide receiver Carmelo Taylor has joined, there are currently six “former” PSU pledges to reset the recruiting process.

The Bears are known defensively under Dave Aranda and have added two future contributors in cornerback Cayden Jenkins and interior defensive lineman Brendan Bett.

The Hoggs haven’t gained or lost any prospects in the last month or so, but the class is balanced and solid on both sides of the ball. is off to a blistering start to the 2022 high school season.

UNC lost commitments but added four men, including 3-down linebacker Kaveion Keys from Virginia, and is coordinating well under Mack Brown.

Along with multiple ACC rivals, the two South Florida additions of wide receiver Williams Fowles and linebacker Stan Ann Clark are a good indication of the Cardinals’ nationwide reach. L’s U doesn’t have an in-state participant yet, but he has nine contracts signed from California and Florida combined.
20. Texas Tech (19)

Tech and Joey McGuire added another Texan to the fold with Jordan Sanford’s safety projection. This is his 22nd of 25 verbal commitments from within the Lone Star State line so far.
21. Cincinnati (15)

The Bearcats have a balanced group of players with playmaking skills and an elite 11 finalists.
22. Washington (17)
Verbal Promise: 19
SI99 recruits: 0
There will be no new Huskies on board in the second half of the 2023 class, but none on board have been retired at any point. A strong position group along the secondary and offensive fronts is the foundation of Kalen DeBoer’s first full his recruiting class.
23. Pit (24)
Verbal Promise: 18
SI99 recruits: 1
The Panthers have a strong group of positions to build around SI99 QB recruit Kenny Minchey along their offensive line, defensive line, and secondary. Three-down linebacker Jordan Bass, who committed during the Panthers’ Backyard Brawl win on Thursday night, also rounds out a solid linebacker unit.
