Heidi Swann-Loose scored twice as the Southwestern Trojans beat Maple Grove 5-0 in Thursday’s non-league women’s soccer match.

Swan-Leuze scored the first goals of both halves, scoring the first from Lexi Lundmark in the 11th minute and scoring again with help from Kaylyn Carnes in the 44th minute. Lucy Brown scored in the 36th minute from Avery Johnson to give Southwestern a 2–0 lead before half-time.

The Trojans then pulled away with three quick goals in the second half, with Brown’s Swanrews, Landmark in the 47th minute and Makena Johnson in the 52nd minute to make it 5–0 from Avery Johnson.

Southwestern did their best to keep the ball away from goalkeeper Buraya Bieber, but when called upon, she made the three saves needed to keep a clean sheet.

South Dayton — Jamestown beat Pine Valley/Gowanda 11-1 in the non-league game.

The Red Raiders added 3 goals and 2 assists from Kareen Mims, 2 goals and 2 assists from Cary Reaper, 2 points from Ella Profter, 2 more assists from Kate Kathman, and both Julia Smith and Quinn Johnson with goals and assists. and both scored and assisted. Marsha McIntyre and Naira Torres scored one.

Pine Valley/Gowanda’s Sarah Krushka ended Jamestown’s shutout chance in the 60th minute. Destiny Lindquist and Arryanna Bardo split time at the Panthers’ net, and combined he made 18 saves.

Morgan Maloney made two saves in the net for Jamestown.

The Red Raiders will host Randolph at 11am Saturday morning, while the Panthers will host Westfield/Brockton next Thursday.


Black Knight 1, Marauder 0

DUNKIRK — With Owen Lewis in the net in the 18th minute, that was all the Silver Creek/Forestville Black Knights needed to beat Dunkirk in non-league youth soccer on the streets on Thursday.

Gregory Orcutt Jr. had 18 saves and played a big role in keeping the Marauders in the game. Orcutt’s play at the net was boosted by the excellent play of Dunn his Hoss on defense. The freshman played the entire game for the Marauders, helping Silver limit his Creek/Forestville chances.

Orcutt’s play at the net was matched on the other side of the field by Black Knights keeper Joel Dolce, who made 12 saves to secure a clean sheet and first win of the year.

Silver Creek/Forestville will take on Chautauqua Lake in the Chautauqua Cataraugas Athletic Association Division 2 Central in Mayville on Wednesday. Dunkirk will start playing the Division 1 West at home to Southwestern on the same day.

Portville 2, Ellicottville 0

Portville — Portville started the season with a 2-0 victory over Ellicottville.

Seniors Michael Cole and Mario Pascucci found the net for Portville and Simon Szymanski scored an assist to seal the win.

Troy VanSickle kept a clean sheet at the net.
