Your eyes are not deceiving you. The Texas Rangers’ first six hitters in the batting order have been about the same six since interim manager Tony Beasley took over over a week ago.
That’s Beasley’s favorite way. and it’s working.
Over the last nine games, the Rangers’ top-six batting order hasn’t wavered, except on days when catcher Jonah Haim didn’t start. Beasley’s line-up after August 17 was led by Marcus Semien, followed by Corey Seager, Nathaniel Lowe, Adris Garcia, Haim and Leodi Taveras.
When Haim was off, the Rangers used his backup, Mabriz Viloria, or Brad Miller.
How is it going?
The Rangers are 6-3 with at least two 10-run wins and three wins in one-run games, and have seen individual players gain momentum. Especially Rowe and Garcia.
Beasley believes consistency in the lineup will lead to success for the remainder of the season.
“They keep us stable.” It keeps things together for us. They’re consistent for the most part, and I like where they are. is at the level of
300 hitter for the Rangers since both Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre recorded in 2016. 3. In that small sample, Lowe hit . 368 with 5 homers and 14 RBIs. During his final road trip, he reached his 20th home run, becoming his fourth Ranger to do so in 2022 and adding a career high for long balls.
Lowe, who hit a solo home run in the first inning on Friday, appreciates consistency.
“When you look at a lot of playoff teams, the first five or six players play every day and the rest of the teams can match them,” Lowe said. “It’s nice to have a group that rolls together in a rhythm. It gives you confidence.”
Before Beasley took over, Rowe moved the lineup frequently. In six games before the manager change, Low finished third, fourth and fifth under former manager Chris Woodward.
Beasley placed left-handed Rowe in third. Behind him is right-handed Garcia, who has also benefited from this minor adjustment. In six games before the manager’s chances, Garcia was third or fourth. He finished his third in Beasley’s first two games. However, on August 17, Beasley moved Garcia to a cleanup area.
275 with a home run and five RBIs. He also has his 22-game hitting streak, the seventh longest in team history, and is the first player since Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez to have his 20-game streak, 20 stolen bases, and 20-game streak with the Rangers. I did it in 1999.
The switch-hitter Haim shuffled many positions throughout the season as he put together an aggressive year-long career. In fact, in the half-dozen games leading up to the manager’s chance, he hit the cleanup twice, his second in the fifth. He is now a solid No. 5 hitter if the team decides to pitch around Garcia, and his ability to hit from both sides means that opposing managers have limited ways to play against him. It means that
Taveras is essentially the No. 6 second-leading hitter and can start attacking once on base.
He has batted .294 since being called up in June and has batted .258 in nine games since Beasley’s lineup change. However, he also scored 5 runs.
Semien and Seeger have been in their place basically all season. But the move to a consistent lineup in the next four spots is part of the reason the Rangers are where they are now, more than a week after a manager change.
“They are dangerous people and can do it anytime,” said Beasley. “It adds pressure to the opposing pitch. You have to face them back-to-back.”
