HOUSTON — The Houston Texans are 23 days away from the start of their 2022 campaign. But on Friday night, the Texans will rehearse for the second time during their preseason showdown with the Los Angeles Rams at Sophie’s stadium.
Rookie Derek Stingley Jr. will make his unofficial NFL debut after missing Saturday’s preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints.
“I think he’s a guy who works very hard and is obviously physically gifted and just gets down to business,” rookie defensive lineman Thomas Booker said after Wednesday’s practice. “He’s just focused on his craft, and I’m trying to embody that too, so I always respect that.
“At the end of the day, what matters is what you put out between those lines and that will reappear on matchday. I think he’s prepared the right way and is doing everything to a high standard.”
The Texans also have quarterback Kyle Allen back after missing a Week 1 matchup against COVID.
Quarterbacks Allen, Davis Mills and Jeff Driskel are all likely to play.
Injury caution: Nickel defender Tavier Thomas has been sidelined indefinitely with a quadriceps injury. He is unlikely to return for the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts and could be sidelined for an extended period of time.
