Great North Run 2022: Meet this year's runners as the iconic half marathon returns to South Shields

With just a few days left, we asked attendees across social media to tell us what inspired the Great North Run.

The event raises thousands of much-needed pounds for charity each year. Below are just a few of those who participated in the fundraising weekend.

Alistair Peel On the day of the Great North Run, I am running a 15-mile route to remember my baby daughter Lucy May and help 4 Louis.

Although he is absent from Center Parcs, he is honoring his commitment to racing.
