Five new members join LaGrange College board - LaGrange Daily News

Five new members joined the board of trustees of Lagrange College on July 1, according to a press release from the university.

Pastor Quincy D. Brown is the Senior Pastor of the Snellville United Methodist Church. He has nearly 30 years of ministry as a youth pastor, associate pastor, college pastor and vice president, church planter, and senior pastor.

From 2017 to 2021, he served as District Superintendent and Evangelism Specialist for the Central South District, overseeing 85 churches in DeKalb, Rockdale, Newton, and Henry Counties in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Dr. Brown is a Certified Transitional Guide and Church Transformation Coach working on the process of church revitalization. He is the author of three of his books, including The Discipleship Path: Leading the Congregation to Connect with Jesus.

A native of Gainesville, Georgia, Dr. Brown graduated from the DeVry Institute of Technology (Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology), Candler School of Theology (Master of Divinity, cum laude) at Emory University, and Gammon Theological Seminary at Interdeominational Theological. I am graduating. Center (Doctor of Ministry, Honors).

Jane Cooley ’83, M.Ed.’84 is a retired educator. She taught in Cobb County for 26 years, in Paulding County for 2 years and in Troop County for 2 years.

Cooley has a BA and an M.Ed. She holds a PhD in Early Childhood Education from Lagrange University. She also has her Ed.S. She holds a PhD in Management and Supervision from the University of Georgia, West of Carrollton.

Cooley has served on the Board of Directors of Marietta First United Methodist Church, on the Board of Directors of the Mentoring Program for the Leadership Program at Marietta High School, and as interim youth pastor of Marietta First United Methodist Church. She serves on the leadership and alumni committees and is also a member of her Quadrangle Society at LaGrange College.

In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his three grandchildren, and collecting small items such as thimbles, magnets, and Christian crosses while traveling.

Michael Fay ’86 is Chairman of the US Capital Markets Group Executive Committee for Avison Young, a global commercial real estate firm. He is also the Principal and Managing Director of the Miami office.

Throughout his career, Fay has been recognized by his company and several national publications as a top producer and power leader in real estate. He is a member of his prestigious Florida Council of 100 and many other boards. His family foundation, Fay Family Investments, focuses on real estate and philanthropy.

While in school, Faye played for the Panther basketball team. He is a member of his Quadrangle Society and in 2021 he received the Shackleford Alumni Achievement Award.

Dr. George Lankford ’11 of Huntsville, Alabama is the founder of the information technology company NeoMax. He previously worked in Virginia where he was a systems engineer at Infinimetrics and he was a data scientist at Leidos.

He graduated from Lagrange College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a minor in Accounting. Dr. Lankford also holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. He holds a BA in Applied Mathematics from North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

During his PhD, he worked as a team member and project manager at the Minneapolis Institute of Mathematics and its Applied Mathematics to Industry bootcamp. Intern at SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic in North Charleston, South Carolina. Precomputational Algebra Instructor at North Carolina State University. A cryptographic design intern at the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, Maryland.

Dr. Lankford has received a National Physical Sciences Consortium fellowship from the NSA and a research fellowship and diversity enhancement grant from the State of North Carolina.

He received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from Lagrange College in 2017.

Lisa Tunstall ’84 is a Strategic Senior Human Resources Business Partner at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

She graduated from Lagrange College with a Bachelor of Science in History and began her Human Resources career in 2017 by joining the Medical Center. Tunstall partners with Senior Her Leaders to provide people-related solutions to help them achieve their business goals.

At LaGrange, Tunstall was a member of the Phi Mu Fraternity and Alumni Executive Committee, as well as a member of the Quadrangle Society.

Outside of work, Tunstall serves on the board of affiliates of Susan G. Komen Central Tennessee. She is also a member of the Central Tennessee Human Resource Management Association and the Human Resource Management Association.

Promoted to the role of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of LaGrange College is Kathy Reese McCollum ’81, M’16, a Trustee since 2007. In July, she named Robert “Bobby” Carmichael Jr. Since May 2020, she has been president and CEO of Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. Previously, he held leadership positions at AT&T and Bellsouth.

The Board also welcomed the returning members of Dr. James F. Bruce Jr., Edward Smith, Nancy Kite Stevens ’71, M.Ed. ’74 and James “Jim” Wood III.

Dr. Bruce is a retired orthopedic surgeon who began practicing LaGrange in 1982. He played a key role in his LaGrange College Athletics over his 30-plus years, caring for injured student-athletes on the field, court, or in his office at the Southern Center. for orthopedics. In 2013 he was named Honorary Alumni.

Smith is CEO of Oakbridge Insurance, which was formed in 2020 through the merger of Hutchinson Traylor Insurance and three other companies. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Downtown Lagrange Development Authority. From 2008 to 2009 he served as Chairman of the LC Leadership Council and chaired the University’s Business and Accounting Advisory Board.

Stevens is a longtime educator and retired principal of Lagrange’s West Side Magnet School. She earned two degrees at her college, Lagrange, and two advanced degrees in education. She was named to the university’s Outstanding Alumni Wall in her 1998 and won the Outstanding Alumni Award in 2012.

Wood is the former Vice President of Technical Field Services Southeast at AT&T. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Lagrange College and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Virginia. He received the Lagrange College Shackleford Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 and the Lifetime Alumni Award in 2019.
